Fort Conwallis – this is said to be the landing site of Capitan Francis Light (of the East India Company) in 1786, when he took over the island. The fort is located at the tip of the cape in George Town. Originally a wooden stockade, it was rebuilt in 1804 by convict prisoners.

Pre-war houses – these houses were built in many towns in Malaysia during the 19th and early 20th century, used as commercial premises as well residences. George Town has the largest cluster of pre-war houses in South-East Asia. What do you think of theses houses in Penang?
